sorry for double-commenting, i just checked up on my camera [also a Nikon Coolpix .... most likely cheaper vers. than yours though ^^"] and all my images turn cooler in tone when I set the white balance to Incandescent. this is when using daylight as the ONLY light source.

I live in a foggy city so lighting is perfect for photographing paintings in plain daylight :D

love the effect of the paint on the background and the figure. The forearm seems very thing compared to the biceps though. was that intentional?

check the white balance of your camera.

You probably have it set to some artificial light setting. In daylight, the artificial white-balance setting will turn your photos blue-ish.

oh, hmmm i didnt notice that. it's probably cuz i have really skinny forearms too but yea, i think i'll fix that. thanks for the critique! and i'll definitely try taking more photos in different settings i was in a kinda rush
